THE Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin has admitted that there were errors made in the offer letters sent out to buyers of Public Housing Project (PPR) units in Kuala Lumpur.
He concurred that a few conditions stated in the offer letters were erroneous, and that these were technical errors on the part of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
In the letters shown by some residents to StarMetro earlier, it was reported that they were required to secure a bank loan within 30 days and a decision (on the purchase) was to be made within 14 days from the date of the letter’s issuance by DBKL.
However, Nong Chik assured buyers that was not the case. “Buyers can be assured that we will give them ample time, as we understand that the loan processing by the bank takes time.
“The Kuala Lumpur mayor has also reiterated that the people need not worry (on the time frame),” Nong Chik told reporters at the launch of the new look of A&W Batu Road outlet in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
The outlet is the first A&W branch to be opened in Malaysia in 1963, and its new look is following a total transformation that includes replacing old kitchen ware with new equipment.
The launch also saw the unveiling of the first ever A&W mobile truck in the country.
He said among other errors made were also on rebates that were not stated in the letter as per his earlier announcement, while buyers can choose to use their own banks if they do not wish to have DBKL’s panel of banks for the loan.
In a press statement issued by DBKL, meanwhile, it is said that Nong Chik has agreed that the original rebate is RM2,500 for each PPR MTEN unit and for DBKL public housing units, the rebate is between RM1,540 and RM2,500 based on the size of the unit.
In a statement by mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail, the sale of the PPR flats and DBKL public housing are for those who can afford it.
“For those who are not, they are allowed to continue renting the same unit, and will be given the chance to buy the flat at any time when they are ready and can afford it,” he said.
Meanwhile, KUB group managing director Datuk Mohd Nazar Samad said they would be having three of the mobile trucks this year that would be greeting customers at selected hotspots and where there were no A&W outlets.
“Refurbishment is also being carried out at all of our outlets and should be completed by this year,” he said.
