Cameron Highlands villagers appeal to minister over prosecution
A GROUP of villagers from Cameron Highlands who are being prosecuted for protesting the demolition of their homes have submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister to drop the charges, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Cameron Highlands Parti Sosialis Malaysia chief B. Suresh Kumar said the families from Green Cow, KEA Farm, were neither informed nor issued an eviction order.
“This is why they protested on Oct 13 as the developer had begun work and the residents stopped the tractors from moving any further as their lives were in danger,” he said at a press conference in Parliament on Thursday.
Suresh said that the developer had failed to show them the development order and checks revealed no permit had been issued.
