Concrete water tank for Kg Baru Cheras folk
The 40-year-old rusty steel water tank in Kampung Baru Cheras in Ampang will be replaced with a concrete one following complaints from residents on the bad water quality.
Twenty-six areas in the village have been receiving poor quality of water for many years.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Bhd (Syabas) began work on Oct 15 in Jalan 49, Kg Baru Cheras, where the tank is located. The RM1mil project is expected to be completed by July 14 next year.
The old sctucture will be demolished and piling work carried out for the new 720,000-litre concrete tank. Syabas will provide water from another source to the affected residents.
Ampang Jaya municipal councillor S. Supiramany said Syabas had assured the residents that they would not be facing any water supply disruption during the construction period.
Teratai assemblyman Jenice Lee, who was also present at the briefing, said they were also looking into upgrading sports facilities and a contractor would be hired for the job next year.
She added that RM1mil had been allocated for upgrading roads and drains next year
“This year the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) allocation was used for six projects,” Lee said,
She also said a gotong-royong had been organised at Pandan Perdana, near the golf driving range to beautify the place.
“A beautification project in Taman Muda will also be carried out over the next two months,” she said.
Lee said it was not possible to attend to all the problems but that they would give priority to the important ones.
