Put ‘dead space’ to good use
CARS are often double-parked on the stretch of road in Jalan Telawi between the nasi kandar restaurant in Telawi 4 and the junction with Jalan Terasik in Bangsar Baru, causing severe traffic congestion.
Part of the reason for this could be due to the closure of three side roads linking that stretch with Jalan Terasik 4 (which runs parallel to Jalan Telawi). Both ends of these connecting roads — which have eight parking bays each — have been barricaded to prevent cars and motorcycles from entering.
The reason for this is to prevent motorcycle-riding snatch thieves from easily entering and exiting the Terasik residential area.
Why is it necessary to barricade both ends of the roads? Will not barricading one end suffice for this purpose?
This action has effectively prevented 24 parking bays in these three connecting roads from being used.
If the barriers cannot be removed to allow for parking, at least allow the “dead space” to be used by unemployed people to set up stalls. Twenty-four families would be able to earn a living through this valuable space in a prime commercial area, which is currently not benefiting anyone.
