Old pipes need to be replaced

Residents in New Green Park and Taman Rawang Jaya are having frequent water supply disruption almost every month for the past one year.
Vijaya Sundram, 48, from Rawang Green Park, said this was due to frequent pipe bursts in the area.
“I am puzzled by the pipe bursting in the same area about a month after repair work is carried out.
The repair work is done by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) contractors.
Vijaya questioned the quality of the new pipes used to replace the existing ones.
After the pipes are repaired, residents would get muddy water for about an hour before the water becomes clear again.
“I hope Syabas will do something about this,’’ he said.
Albert Kee, who lives in Jalan NGP 1 in New Green Park, said within two weeks, the pipes burst in front of his house twice.
“The pipes in both areas are about 40 years old and Syabas needs to replace the whole piping system and not carry out repairs at the affected stretch only,’’ he said.
