Buildings renamed after historic figures


KOTA ISKANDAR: The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has renamed the state assembly building here Bangunan Sultan Ismail and the Mentri Besar’s office and State Secretariat as Bangunan Datuk Jaafar Muhammad.

Sultan Ibrahim said the decision to rename the two buildings was to commemorate the contributions of the historic figures.

“Jaafar Muhammad was the first Johor Mentri Besar and his contribution to the state was tremendous,” he said before launching the state assembly here yesterday.

In his speech, Sultan Ibrahim also revealed his dissatisfaction over the level of cleaning services in Johor Baru city and said he wanted to see an improvement.

“I want the Federal Government to expedite the implementation of a new solid waste management system,” he said.

Sultan Ibrahim reminded all government officers to instil an excellent work culture.

“The quality of government service should be improved by hastening the work process,” he said.
