Pahang to rescue delayed housing project
KUANTAN: The Pahang government will give priority to a housing project comprising 500 houses for fishermen of four villages. This private project on state land has been delayed for 20 years.
The four villages are Tanjung Lumpur, Tanjung Api, Kampung Selamat and Peramu.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said the project was a rush job and allocations for basic amenities were overlooked.
About 100 houses had been completed but certificates of fitness had not been issued, he told reporters after opening the Kuantan Fishermen’s Association 30th annual general meeting here.
“A briefing on the project will be given this Wednesday. If needed, the state will step in,” he said.
When projects such as these were not completed on time, it caused resentment in members of the public, he added.
“However, one cannot totally blame the state. At times, the companies or developers involved provide inaccurate and insufficient details,” he added.
State Fisheries Development Board director Zali Ibrahim, in his speech earlier, said the association made a profit of RM1.32mil this year.
“The association gave dividends of 30% to 40% annually to its members,” he added.
