Deals signed to develop old Sg Besi land
KUALA LUMPUR: Several agreements have been inked to pave the way for the old Sungai Besi airport land to be transformed into a development known as Bandar Malaysia.
In a statement by 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Bandar Malaysia – as a strategic development for long-term national growth – would have several attractive elements to further strengthen Kuala Lumpur’s global competitiveness in pulling in international investors and businesses.
Among the documents signed were a sale and purchase agreement with the Federal Land Commissioner for the transfer of 200.3ha of Sungai Besi airport land to 1MDB, the master developer, and another with Negri Sembilan’s Mentri Besar Incorporated for the purchase of 303.5ha in Sendayan to replace the site.
Also inked was a master relocation agreement with the Defence and the Home Minis-tries to develop eight replacement sites.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop witnessed the signing at the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department yesterday.
Also present was 1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin.
1MDB said Bandar Malaysia aimed to promote “livability” as a distinctive character of Greater Kuala Lumpur with a mixed development of open green space and higher learning institutions.
