Bouygues profits slip, upgrades 2010 sales forecast

French diversified conglomerate Bouygues, active in construction, real estate, media and telecommunications, said Tuesday its first half net profit and sales slipped only slightly.

The company said it earned a six months to June net profit of 532 million euros (670 million dollars), down three percent from a year earlier as sales slipped one percent to 14.66 billion euros.

Bouygues said first half activity was good and better-than-expected revenues meant it could raise its 2010 sales forecastt to 30.4 billion euros from the previous 30.1 billion euros.

Group debt totalled 4.2 billion euros at the end of June, down 2.1 billion euros from a year earlier, it added. All divisions were running satisfactorily except for its highways unit Colas which was suffering from strong competition and weakness in the Central European economies, it said.
