AGELESS CURVE
Uber modern, hi-tech inspired design meets vintage baroque may sound crazy, but 2010 seems to be a fearless year when it comes to design. Think classic black and white wallpaper with bold baroque textures. Tone the look down by having less heavily designed and colourful furniture. But feel free to throw in colorful accessories such as pillows, vases and picture frames to achieve that fashionable and modern living space.

Wallpapers you can use to pull off the 'Ageless Curve' look.
|
How to achieve this:
(a) Decide on which wall you would want to install the wallpapers. As said before, monochrome coloured wallpapers are preferable. To jazz things up, perhaps you may want to add some glitters.
(b) Place a simple ceiling pendant light in front of the wall paper. The pendant light can be hung either on the side or the corner of the room to bring out the “curves” on the wallpaper.
MOTHER EARTH

Sample of the 'Mother Earth' trend.

Earth's elements and its resources are reflected in colours deriving from plants, mineral and dirt – a combination of tones that create a unique and soothing living space. In the spirit of living green, this trend puts an enormous emphasize on the harmony with the nature and environment around us. Naturally, the use of such colours as brown and green are necessary. Polish the look by incorporating urban concrete into this design. Better yet, leave some space bare for some cooling effect. The perfect combination of concept, colours and materials used to create this look could very well ooze an “outdoor feel” inside your house.
How to achieve this:
(a) Paint the house with neutral colours as the foundation.
(b) You can choose to leave the wall without well plastered but treat it with anti fungus method.
(c) Be experimental; try raw materials as décor elements i.e. a unique wood log can be a centre piece in the house.
LET'S PLAY

This trend is all about colours. The brighter and bolder the colours, the better! In fact, play around with shapes and patterns.
Incorporate geometric shapes, simple floral patterns, colourful retro designs as well as vintage elements into the design. But don’t get too carried away, unless you want to have a circus arena in your living space. To be on the safe side, think funky retro hues and stick with synchronized colours.
How to achieve this:
(a) If you do not have colorful furniture or wall, do not fret! Get yourself a retro canvas for the colors and patterns. Remember, brighter colours produce better results i.e. you could use a sexy RED Marilyn Monroe portrait)

A blend of oriental and stylish theme that is predicted to be a hit in 2010.

ORIENTAL SWEETNESS
Oriental Sweetness could very well be the most popular trend for next year. But what is it all about, you may ask. Well, basically it is a design that is inspired by the east – namely the culture, the revolution, the progress – which is translated into a modern design language. The result? An elegant, cohesive, East-oriented design. Wide usage of the oriental themed textiles and art work, blended in with rich oriental color such as red and orange will immediate brighten and style up the room.
How to achieve this:
(a) Have a vibrant red wall and enhance it with special effect lightings.
(b) Simple Chinese motif divider can make the room livelier.
(c) Stylish Chinese calligraphy can be a nice wall decoration.
