Farish Aziz on Raya and his dream house

Gudang Glee:Farish Aziz favours durable and colourful home furniture

Shopping is a part and parcel of Hari Raya celebration. Other than new clothes, Raya shopping usually includes home décor and knick knacks.

Joining the shopping festivity is actor and television host Farish Aziz. The Sabahan lad, who rose to prominence after hosting Astro Ria’s Durian Runtuh in year 2006, admitted that he was looking for durable and colourful home furniture and accessories.

The 26-year-old admits that he currently does not own a property. But he is quick to add that he will soon invest in one. When it comes to his dream house and the furniture that comes with it, Farish seems to know exactly what he wants.

“Contemporary with edge,” he says, “With colourful furniture and furnishing. Put simply, I want a stimulating environment that reflects my personality.”

StarProperty.my and Farish Aziz went on a shopping spree at Gudang Studio, The Gardens recently.

Quirky: Aziz fancies quirky numbers from Lexon

 Plan ahead
When Farish Aziz arrived in Kuala Lumpur five years ago, never once he thought that he would end up in the show business. He had come to the capital of Malaysia to pursue his study in Business Administration. An open audition held by Astro changed his life. The chirpy lad, who had previously modeled for a few commercials, was appointed an in-house television host for the satellite giant. The rest, as they say, is history.

“I have since branched out into acting and producing, while maintaining hosting as my main job,” Farish says, before adding, “I think I have done more than 20 hosting jobs on air.”

His recent show about football, aptly entitled Bola, has even taken him to South Africa. Where acting is concerned, Farish says he is in the midst of rounding up the television series, Kau dan Aku.

Admittedly, his career in show business has been a rewarding one. It is safe to say that Farish is amongst the brightest young stars with one lucrative deal after another under his belt. The next obvious move is to invest in property.

Dream house
“For me, owning a property is a must,” says Farish of property investment.

“I really should have owned one by now,” he says with a chuckle, “But believe me, it’s not that simple when it comes to buying property.”

He says that since he is based in Kuala Lumpur, it only makes sense that he invests here. But ultimately he wants to own a property in Kota Kinabalu as well. Call it daydreaming, but the ambitious young man has already started counting his dollars and cents.

“At this point, a 3-bedroom condo would be perfect for me. I think it only makes sense to live in a condominium unit in KL when you are single,” he says. “I do hope one day I would own a landed property in Kota Kinabalu.”

Among his main considerations in choosing his dream house is strategic location and architectural style. He believes that his dream house must be close to his office, shopping malls and of a modern architecture. Unsurprisingly, he chooses contemporary pieces during our shopping trip to Gudang Studio. Admitting that he has a soft spot for all things colourful, Farish’s first choice is a green Bontempi Aqua chair and a transparent Yoga chair. He reckons these unique chairs would be suitable for Hari Raya.

For a contemporary living room, Farish reckons Glas Italia’s Wireframe side table, which is a three-dimensional glass cube, and Bontempi Taylor sofa, would make the best mix. He also fancies quirky numbers from Lexon, which include colourful Tykho and Apollo 2 radio. With that, our shopping trip to Gudang Studio came to an end.
