My House, My Style - Adibah Noor

Watch our candid interview with Adibah about her theatre projects, Hari Raya and why she prefers condominium to landed property here:
When StarProperty called her up two weeks ago to feature her condominium, Adibah admitted that she had not done any special preparation to welcome Raya.

We assumed that her wall-to-wall schedule has taken all her energy; Adibah is now busy with ‘Cuci: The Musical’ rehearsal, which will be staged in Istana Budaya October 23 – November 8, 2009.

But to our surprise, she admitted that her busy schedule is not the reason why she had not done any Raya preparation to her condominium unit.

“I am a city gal lah… I’m just naturally unfazed about the obligatory Hari Raya shopping that requires some squeezing and queuing in the shopping mall,” she confessed. Also, she would rather keep her home private.

“I do enjoy decorating, but because I have 19 cats living with me, I had not been able to buy nice furniture and furnishing items,” she said. To solve this problem, Adibah bought another condominium unit in the same building for herself.

“So my cats live on the seventh floor, while I mostly live on the fifth floor,” Adibah explained. It is here on the fifth floor that she can release her decorating inhibitions.

“The theme of my condo unit is black and white, representing Yin and Yang,” she said, “And it is very much modern and simple.”

It took us two weeks to convince her to go shopping with us for Raya, to which she finally agreed. It was really last minute Raya shopping, but thanks to Macy Home Furnishings – a one-stop home furnishings shop that caters to urban dwellers like Adibah – we could proudly say ‘mission accomplished’!

Shopping List
As we explored the spacious Macy outlet in Ikano, Damansara, Adibah appeared to be mused with what she saw. Our first stop was the curtains section.

Funky readymade curtains, made of strings of furs, (Fancy Sting Curtain, RM85.90/m) caught her attention instantly. The curtain, available in black and white, was her first choice.

Adibah then sat on a classic white 3-seater leather sofa (Montana Sofa, RM5,499). But it was the cushions and throw, with black and white motif, that put a smile on her face (Cosmopolitan collection, RM39 and RM99 respectively).

“These cushions and throw are perfect for my  house,” she ruminated.

Across the room, we saw some delightful decoration items that looked perfect for Adibah’s black and white themed condominium unit.

Adibah’s other picks were a stylish white table lamp (RM499), a glamorous silver rectangle vase (Sterling Vase, RM399), a cylinder silver vase (Belle Tall, RM575) and a unique Meditarian-inspired vast in silver (Avanti Vase, RM329).

“Doesn’t this look like a tear drop?” said Adibah jokingly of the Avanti Vase she had chosen.

According to Macy’s showroom manager, Irene Fong, the items that Adibah had chosen are perfect for an instant facelift to a living space.

“This will work best when your living space is simple in colours and design, just like Adibah’s,” she said.
