Sculptures go retro at Artisan House
Artisan House’s wall sculptures make good conversation pieces. Take for instance, its Fall 2009 collection that pays homage to the rollicking 70s. Made with metals such as copper, bronze, brass and steel, Artisan House’s latest collection is very subdued with shades of brown, avocado green and harvest gold.
"The bright colours seen on our metal art designs in 2007 and 2008 are taking a backseat to natural and metallic looks," says John Shilling, president of Artisan House.
"There's no pop of color in most of the 52 new pieces introduced in our Fall 2009 collection. Instead, our talented team of metal artisans focused on copper, brass, silver, natural colours and pieces that have unique finishes with interesting paint applications," he adds.

Shilling also said that the latest collection is a nod to designs the 45-year-old company used to produce back in the 70s. “In past decades, all our sculptures were crafted of brass, copper and steel. It seems we've gone back to our roots!"
The Fall 2009 Collection debuts five particularly unique pieces called Organic, Trinity, Formation, Sangria and Eco-Friendly.
The effective collaboration of highly-skilled studio and finishing artists breathe life into the designs. Each wall sculpture is crafted by hand before it is assembled. Since they are handmade, no two sculptures are exactly alike – just like snowflakes.
The company may be based in California, but its masterpieces are available at the Molecule Showroom in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.
The metal sculptures by Artisan House have successfully bridged the gap between pricey and mass-produced decorative pieces. They are being sold at reasonable prices (between RM4,000 – RM9,000) upon order or purchase request.
