RM1.5mil sculpture

And befitting a luxury development, original art works by Malaysian artist Jolly Koh are strategically placed on the respective walls behind the reception counters in Block A and Block B. The pair of 2.4m by 76cm paintings, entitled "Letter to My Father, I" and "Letter to My Father, II" are part of the Zehn Bukit Pantai art collection. A third painting, "Blue Birds of Happiness," adorns the wall of a study or reading room.

But such works are dwarfed by New York-based Malaysian artist Eng Tay’s sculpture placed at the circular driveway. Measuring 1.2m in height, 90cm in width and 2.4m in length, the 512kg bronze sculpture of a rotund lady entitled "Resting," is valued at about RM1.5mil.

Connecting Block A and Block B is a granite-paved, covered walkway with built-in, padded seats (with Sunbrella material from the US) at both ends. The spacious 200sq m walkway is separated from the landscaped grounds and pool facilities on the other side by a high wall. There is a concierge station built in the centre of the walkway, right in front of the drop-off area.

Landscaping of the project is by Bali-based American landscape architect Karl Princic.

The garden and surrounding pool areas have been planted with Frangipani shrubs, pearl grass and Princic’s signature mass planting, in this case, with Spider Lily (Hymenocallis caribaea).

Said Lee: "The pink flowers and tropical palms give the ambience of a tropical resort. There are also five wooden cabanas designed by Princic."

Pool furniture
And when it comes to pool furniture, the developers have spent their money well on Gandia Blasco furniture from Spain. The 12 deck chairs as well as outdoor tables and matching chairs can comfortably seat 40 people.

The five cabanas are made of cengal hardwood with the shade material and cushions covered in Sunbrella fabric designed for outdoor use.

The swimming pool spans 58m by 6m and is paved with the distinctive turquoise-coloured Keradol tiles from Thailand.

Explained Lee: "The tile colours reflect sea water and are widely used in resorts in Phuket, Bali and Langkawi. The ripple effect reflected on the tiles resembles sea waves. Princic has put a great deal of thought into this, to make the landscape, including the pool area, like a resort."

The swimming pool is primarily for the use of residents. Guests of residents must be accompanied by the residents themselves.

Another outdoor element designed by Princic is a water feature that shoots jets of water into the air. It is meant to add to the resort feel to complement the modern tropical concept of the development’s architecture.

Other facilities include a children’s play area where the ground is padded with rubberised material.

For fitness buffs, the fully-equipped main gymnasium comes with TechnoGym accessories from Italy such as treadmills, cross-training and cycling equipment as well as free weights and other strength-building equipment. The gymnasium can accommodate 15 persons at any one time.

Added Lee: "We have a private gym facility on the upper ground floor of Block A. Personal fitness trainer Candi Soo is looking at opening the private gym with an aerobics room by the end of this month."

All Zehn condo units are fully-equipped with a kitchen designed by Malaysian-born Australian chef Cheong Liew. The branded kitchen accessories include a refrigerator, microwave oven, convection oven, dish washing machine, waste disposal unit, gas hob, induction hob and exhaust hood. There is even a television set and DVD player in the dry kitchen section. A washing machine and dryer are also installed at the drying yard for each unit.

Oman marble
Other luxurious fittings include a Kohler bathtub made of cast iron with enamel coating and "Annaba Ivory Blonde Finish" marble from Oman in the bathroom. The sizeable, 1.8m by 4m lanai or balcony is laid with cengal hardwood. Bedrooms come with American White Oak engineered-wood flooring by Ekowood.

Located in Bukit Pantai, Zehn has easy access to Mid Valley City, Bangsar Shopping Centre and Bangsar Village shopping complex.

Incidentally, "Zehn" is the German word for the number "10" which refers to the lot number of the development site.
