The Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, Japan, is part of the northern Japanese Alps. It is well known for producing some of the best furniture in Japan, mostly due to its tradition in making wooden craft furniture. At the heart of it is Hida Takayama, a city nestled in the mountain region, where the wood craftsmen and artisans are widely considered the best for their skills in Japan.

Having its roots in the construction of Japanese temples, it is, therefore, no surprise that the traditional skills coupled with well developed new techniques and modernisation produce furniture with such fine craftsmanship. This then gave birth to Hidakagu Co. Ltd. in 1962. Now known as Hida Kagu Interior Sdn. Bhd., the company continues using the techniques perfected through generations in making superior furniture for more than 40 years.

We are now able to appreciate the beauty of Japanese wood furniture at the Hida Kagu showroom located on the 2nd floor of The Curve, Mutiara Damansara. A showcase of understated class found through the simplicity of well designed and clean cut modern furniture, all the while presenting a touch of nature in its pieces.

Starting out in manufacturing dining and living sets, the company stays true to its origins, becoming specialists in this area - using a wide range of types of solid wood, including white oak, ash, beech wood, walnut from the USA and even rubber wood from Malaysia and Cambodia. This allows them a versatility and variety in their products, catering to the different needs of customers.

Furthermore, their factory plant in Binh Duong, Vietnam is furnished with the latest sophisticated technology and equipment to produce the best results and quality in their furniture. Hidakagu also uses high quality raw materials sourced from countries like the United States, Japan, Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Hidakagu carries various types of dining and living sets, including the Modern Scandinavian designs, Japanese designs, the Mingei (folk art) series as well as the ones made from tree trunks in Hokkaido, Japan. Being all-round dining and living specialists, Hidakagu is not limited to just tables and chairs; also offering complementing lifestyle accessories such as cabinets, chests, shelves, sideboards, AV-boards, coffee tables and many more to complete your home.

In carrying out with their motto; “Creativity & Originality, Customer’s Satisfaction and Challenging Spirit”, their designers are continuously developing new products and creative designs, challenging themselves to achieve a higher level of craftsmanship for their customers while practising the same spirit passed on through generations of Hida wood craftsmen.
